The MAD in motion project brings a new perspective to the decorative arts to spark curiosity and boost the museum’s appeal. The main thrust consists of drawing in passers-by with a site offering a host of scenarios (co-working or conference rooms, waiting areas, exhibition spaces). Passers-by are immersed ‘by surprise’ in the decorative arts world. The elements of surprise are mobile installations specially designed for multiple uses. Visually these will be designed to contrast with their environment by the use of perforated metal in an industrial style. These installations will further connect the decorative arts museum with its contemporary vocation.
