The nave, a new public space, has become a buffer zone in the museum’s itinerary, comprising a rich mix of retail, temporary exhibitions and rest areas. Visitors can take a break there, browse the shops or simply admire the nave’s interior. It provides tourists with a more interesting and more comfortable experience. Also, the autonomous structure composed of colour metal grids are inspired by garden trellises: in the way it enhances the plants and the scenery, we hope that the structure in the MAD might improve the general appearance of the museum building. The colours divide the space, provide clear guidance (visual signage) and offer visitors an experience similar to visiting a garden.
