The church is at the heart of society, in the centre of the village and its land. However, with the decline in religious practices in France, some churches are losing their original role. Is it therefore possible to think about the church not as an exclusively religious symbol, but as a symbol of the local community? My degree project started from a meeting with the Mayor of the village of Nieul-le-Virouil. He suggested a project to convert Saint Séverin church, which is currently closed to the public, turning it into the building it was before, the heart of the village. My project offers a vision of what the church of Nieul-le-Virouil could become, with the aim of returning the building to the local inhabitants.
