Let’s imagine that, in the future, Paris City Council plans to re-use the roof of the Gare de l’Est station platform and turn it into a second floor, like two cities on top of each other. A park will be created above the platforms, accessible to residents and passengers, forming a connection between the East and West districts. The park design could use surfaces such as the roofs of station platforms to create a public space useful to passengers, a cultivated area for increasing green spaces and a connection point for cable cars and trains. A hypothetical park that would offer Parisians a transport hub and a meeting place. The roof would become a new venue for Parisians to socialise.
