Magasins Généraux opened its doors in 2016, in Pantin. Founded by BETC, Magasins Généraux is a space dedicated to cultural events. Designed to promote local openness and the democratisation of culture, the events are public. The specific features of a temporary cultural event are that it takes place over a short time period. The programme shows that, for half the year, the space is unoccupied and empty. “General culture” proposes reinvesting in BETC's initial wish to create an indoor urban farm. Based on the ecological, social and economic qualities generated by farming activity, Magasins Généraux will become the hub for a sustainable, cultural, educational project for Pantin.
