Architecture comes from the imagination. It is either achievable and rational, or utopian and fantastical. This utopian or dystopian representation is developed in literature, the cinema and reality. Many stories imagine the city of the future, inspired by past and present society. How can we evolve our way of living? What would the ideal city be like? Utopia gives us hope, by creating a wonderful future, whereas dystopia depicts a city without a future. How is architecture represented in these stories? And in return, how do architects imagine the city of the future?
