This dissertation studies the origin and characteristic features of the two main Decorative Art styles under the Qing dynasty and under Louis XV, the Qianlong and Rococo styles. Using ceramics and furniture as an example, it details the features of the decorative motifs of both styles and their form of expression, studies their mutual influence and the resulting phenomena. The interior of several representative buildings was chosen to conduct this study. Finally, the dissertation attempts to explore how the decorative motifs of the Qianlong and Rococo styles can be applied to interior decoration today.
