However, with the decline in religious practices in France, some churches are losing their original role. Is it therefore possible to think about the church not as an exclusively religious symbol, but as a symbol of the local community? My degree project started from a meeting with the Mayor of the village of Nieul-le-Virouil. He suggested a project to convert Saint S\u00e9verin church, which is currently closed to the public, turning it into the building it was before, the heart of the village.
